Turning opportunity into impact

When Rameer arrived at Cleveland State University, he quickly realized that opportunity isn’t something to take lightly—it’s something you have to earn every day.

Early on, he paused to reflect on what it meant that his education was largely funded. That support didn’t feel automatic to him; it felt like a challenge. Was he doing enough to deserve it? That question changed how he approached everything that followed.

Rameer began to move with intention—seeking mentors, surrounding himself with people who pushed him forward, and engaging more deeply on campus. As his confidence grew, so did his clarity of purpose. He doesn’t see college as an end goal, but as a starting point.

His long-term vision is ambitious: to open a school in Cleveland’s inner city, creating access and opportunity for students who may not yet see a path for themselves. Education, he believes, should connect young people to resources, guidance, and a belief in their own potential.

That vision is already taking shape at CSU. Rameer founded New Era Scholars, a student organization designed to connect youth with the tools and support they need to succeed. Through the organization, he’s gaining hands-on experience in leadership, service, and community-building—learning what it truly takes to turn ideas into impact.

Rameer is quick to acknowledge that none of this happens alone. The financial support he’s received has given him more than help paying for college—it’s given him room to grow, reflect, and lead with purpose.

“I appreciate the donors and the support they’ve invested in me,” he says, recognizing that their generosity extends beyond his own journey.

For Rameer, donor support is not just an investment in one student. It’s an investment in the future students, schools, and communities he is determined to serve—and he is committed to making that belief count.
