Thank you for investing in our students. Your support is transforming lives, igniting hope and pulling dreams within reach.
Dr. Pamela K. Rutar was an acknowledged faculty member and researcher at Cleveland State University’s School of Nursing. When she passed away following a brief illness in 2018, CSU colleagues established a scholarship in her memory, further supported by her family and friends. Our many scholarship recipients are grateful for this support, evidenced in the letter of gratitude below.

Dear Mr. Rutar,
I want to thank you for this scholarship that I have received. It has helped me tremendously throughout my school journey. It has helped me focus on my studies instead of having to balance a full-time work schedule. It has helped my parents and me relieve the stress of paying for college during the start of COVID-19, as I graduated high school in May of 2020. For a couple of months, I wasn't sure if I could start college in the fall semester.
The Rutar Scholarship has allowed me to focus on new studies as nursing is a very hard degree to learn in a short time, balancing gen eds, labs, clinical lectures, and more. I was also learning what it was like to be a PCNA in a hospital where I had 15 patients that I had to take care of all at the same time. Your support helped me so much with taking the stress off of how I will pay for college, as my parents were also supporting my twin and younger sister in college.
I have enjoyed my last four years here at Cleveland State.
Thank you,
Fiona Stroski
