Giving Day 2024 was one for the record books, crushing last year’s totals and creeping toward the $1 million mark. In the end, 3,242 alumni, donors, parents and friends of the university contributed $819,886 to scholarships, athletics, programs.
Those numbers are a far cry from when the university launched its first Giving Day back in 2014 with a total of 272 donors giving $23,000.
The campus community has consistently grown its commitment to the day throughout the years, but this year saw another first — a Giving Day theme song.
Rapper and alumnus Ryan Tobbe (BA ’18), aka TobyRaps, penned a hit promoting the fundraising campaign, which served as a rallying cry.
Donors heeded the call and made this year’s day the best ever.
“On behalf of the CSU community, I am so grateful for the unprecedented outpouring of support we received this year during Giving Day,” said CSU President Laura Bloomberg.
“Throughout the day, we saw an influx of gifts and messages from donors and friends who understand how philanthropic donations help our students as they earn their degrees and our University as we fulfill our mission.”
University Advancement Vice President Julie Rehm echoed those sentiments.
“The success of Giving Day is a great example of the incredible community support that CSU enjoys," she said.
"It’s a very proud moment to be a Vike!”
