Nearly 2,500 donors from 44 states and 12 countries "followed their heart" and gave more than $450,000 on CSU's eighth-annual Giving Day. The support will impact nearly 90 different colleges, programs, funds, and athletic teams across CSU’s campus.
"It's an indication of how passionate our community is about all that we're doing," said CSU President Harlan Sands.
Conducted largely online, the fundraising initiative used a crowdfunding platform combined with email marketing and a robust social media presence. Prizes and incentives rewarded “social ambassadors” who used tools on the CSU Giving Day website to promote the initiative online and raise funds through their own social networks.
Alumni from the 2010s led the day with the most donors of any decade and Ohio is home for most of the day's donors.
In the eighth-year history of Giving Day, support for the University has consistenly increased, with each year besting the previous one.
