With a $170,000 gift, Jearl Walker, a physics professor at CSU for 44 years, established the Jearl Walker Physics Scholarship Fund to support students in the College of Sciences and Health Professions. This fund will provide a $2,000 yearly award to junior and senior physics majors for the next five years. In addition, Dr. Walker has committed to providing additional funding for future students who enter the program over the next five years.
Dr. Walker is internationally known for his efforts to promote physics principles to the masses. He is the author of Flying Circus of Physics, the top-selling physics textbook worldwide; has toured the nation presenting physics demonstrations, including walking on hot coals; and has appeared frequently on national television, including The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
